但英文新聞的標題，寫法是和一般英文寫作不一樣的，

規則一：時態的用法
．以現在簡單式代替過去發生的事
例句：Mavs clinch best record in the NBA
原句：The Dallas Mavericks have clinched the NBA's best record.
．現在進行式表示正在發生或即將發生的事
例句：Stokley mending from Achilles' injury
原句：Stockley is mending from Achilles' injury.
．過去分詞為被動語態
例句：N. Korea told time running out for deal
原句：North Korea has been told that time is running out for deal.
．不定詞表未來式
例句：9 States to give common math test
原句：Nine states are going to develop(give) a common high school math test.
．be 動詞常被省略
例句：Big ships on order for Royal Caribbean
原句：Big ships have been/were on order for Royal Caribbean.
規則二：標點符號的用法
．逗號 , 常代表 and，表示兩項人事物
．引號 "" 或 ' ' 表示特殊用字，美國多用雙引號 " "，英國多用單引號 ' '
例句：'Blades' earns $22.5M, ices competition <--- 出現了 ' ' 及 ,
原句："Blades of Glory" earned $22.5M and iced the competition.
註：Blades Glory 為溜冰電影，用 ice 當動詞表示這電影冰封了票房競賽
．冒號 : 表示引用消息來源所說的話
例句：Attorney: warrant out for country singer
原句：The attorney of country singer Billy Joe Shave said that the police have issued arrest warrants.
（鄉村歌手 Billy Joe Shave 的律師表示，警方已對該歌手發出拘捕令)
規則三：省略字
．冠詞常被省略
例句：Mavs clinch best record in the NBA
原句：The Dallas Mavericks have clinched the NBA's best record.
．介系詞常被省略
例句：At least 311 Afghan-area U.S. deaths
原句：At least 311 members of the U.S. military died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan. |
